just thought it worth a mention should anyone be looking into this. For info, i have no affiliation... i've had my 916 engine cerakoted by AVL Motorsport. recommended to me after a cup of tea visit to Louigi Moto. i have to say this work is exceptional, done really promptly and meticulously; the finish is superb; before and after pic below.... Wiltshire Motorcycle Cerakote, Cerakote - AVLMotorsport - , England
What ball park figure did that little lot cost you ? I have a one man band just up the road from me which is convenient but his charges are extortionate. Andy
I've used a couple of cerakote places recently too.. 'malvern cerakote' who did my forks, that was £200ish for the two slider tubes and two bottom brackets and 'hi-spec coatings' who did my exhaust. Was happy with both and would happily use either again
Price seems to vary depending on condition, He mentioned that the prep is even more important for this than normal painting or powder coating Best thing to do it give him a shout, sure he’ll give a fair price on which parts you need doing
Just as an alternative if thats too far away - i used a lad called Dave Rowe https://www.techcoat.co.uk/ - specialized in mainly firearms until he met me....did my Hyper 1100 engine a few years back - still in great condition. Hes down in a little town called Rooksbridge in Somerset. Hes a one man band and you can literally drop stuff off and pick stuff up and any time from his house which was really handy for me. I dont have access to the photos directly but heres my thread from a few years back - he did a load of other stuff as well as the motor... https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/hypermotard-1100-evo-sp-rebuild.60884/page-4
Hi @Pete433 what level of prep was required? Did you have to remove all bearings, seals, cover all bolt holes and mating surfaces etc? cheers
Hi - no covering required, he did all needed masking himself but yes, all bearings and seals had to come out so they were completely bare cases when I took them in
