Hello all, New to ducati. End of last year I bought a 1199 abs with 5k. Only done a couple hundred miles and been out for a short ride today and when stopped at home and put bike on side stand noticed chain touching exhaust. Never adjusted a chain on a single sided swing arm before. Any tips on how to do it and what spanner should I buy? Do I need a torque spanner for pinch bolts or can I just tighten? Would putting a tell tale mark with tip ex be ok to tighten to same as pinch bolts are now? I only ask as I don't own a torque spanner.
Slacken off the two screws You need the eccentric hub spanner/tool - ebay around 16 pound. turn counter clockwise to tighten chain. tighten the screws back up to 25nm - thats whats suggested in workshop manual for torque setting. if I'm passing my local Ducati garage il pop in and say hi and they will do it for free and have a quick look over. if yours is close makes it hassle free.
its only about 10 mike away. If its free that sounds fine but think I will buy the buts so I can do it myself. thanks for advice
