Chain adjustment help needed please, was fine now tight

  1. Hi, I adjusted my chain today to the correct tension according to the guide, went for a ride, came back and tested again and now it appears too tight???

  2. Is it tight the whole length or just in one spot? My 17k chain is baggy as hell in most parts, but when I stop with a certain part at the bottom, you could play it like a violin string. Still going to get another couple of thou out of it though.

  3. Not sure, checked along about half a metre of the chain and it appeared tight at all parts, it's only about 2mm above the centre line of the rivets

  4. Were you in the right mode when you adjusted it?

  5. Reason #1 why you shouldn't fuck about with stuff

  6. Tight in some and not in others is a sure sign that some links are seized up in parts of the chain.

  7. Does it ride smoothly? If the links are starting to seize badly it cause a really rough ride and the links struggle to go round the smaller front sprocket, you often get judder on top.

  8. Indeed Red. If you just wheel your bike backwards you can hear the links struggling to get round the radius of the cogs. This happened on my ST and I just changed the chain for peace of mind.

  9. Standard abs model.

Seems to ride ok, checked again in other places and all seems fine.

    El T, have faith!
