Chain And Sprockets For S4 - Is Converting To 520 Worth It?

  1. I need to replace the chain and sprockets and I'm wondering whether to go over to 520 pitch kit instead of 525.

    Is it worth it?

    Any pitfalls or things to look out for?

    Anything else I should know about or need in order to do the conversion?

    Also....


    Steel or alloy rear sprocket and do I need a new carrier if I go over to alloy?

    14/39 or 15/42 sprockets?

    How many links do I need for each of those sprocket combinations?

  2. Got 520 on my 916SPS and 749R...never had any problems with wear or anything like that in many years of using them.

  4. Both are 14/39 with alloy rear sprockets.
