My chain has seen better days on my 848 and I want to replace it along with the sprockets. Is it -1 tooth on the front to improve low speed riding? And what's the best brand to get? I see a lot of d.i.d chains and the obvious renthal sprockets. Any other brands to look out for? Or if someone can point me in the direction of the right kit or just where to buy from that would be great.
-1 at the front or +3 at the back is approximately equivalent and will lower the gearing, making low-speed riding a little easier. I can recommend BikeTorqueRacing - good prices and very helpful - you can just give them a ring and discuss what the best options are. I prefer to change the rear sprocket as you can fine tune it later by going one more or less next time if you find +3 not quite to your liking...
Anyone tried this Quick Release sprocket kit? Ducati 1198 Chain & Sprocket kit with EK SRO series O ring chain 09-11 - Ducati 1198 - Ducati
I know the owner of ducatimondo, Russ. Very decent bloke and always a pleasure to deal with. I've got a 14T front sprocket on mine and it makes the traffic riding a lot easier. When it's time to change the chain, I'll go back to a 15T front and 42 rear. A lot of owners say that going down -1 on the front isn't the way to do it. Some say it doesn't matter. I'm not sure either way so I'm just going to go bigger on the rear and get a couple of extra links in the chain to get the length right. Some on here have complained about the chains from the seller, saying that they stretch far too quickly.
I'm in the process of buying parts to swap mine over i was told 15/41 was the way to go! And don't like the looks of QR sprockets so think it will be a supersprox one with 102 link chain
