1199 Chain Length

  1. Quick question (I have searched previous threads but my tiny mind became confused...) re final drive gearing on a standard 1199...

It sounds like up'ing the rear sprocket to 41 (39 is standard, right?) is a good idea, and consistent with what they did on the R. I assume this keeps a standard 15 tooth front. Based on that, what length of chain would be needed? I think that 104 links is usual but with the bigger rear cog presumably a few extra links would be needed - any clues on what length is best?

Standard chain is 530 pitch I believe, so slightly smaller and lighter at 525 would seem reasonable for low mileage track use - agreed?

This would be mainly for track use.

    Cheers all.

  2. Hello there,

Last year I done the same. I think std chain is 525 pitch. Not sure on length as got dealer to change. I went with a DID chain and R 41T rear sprocket. Std 15T front. Used std Ducati sprocket so I did not need to change sprocket carrier. I think most people on track use a 520 pitch chain.

  4. I am running 15/41 with a 106 link 525 chain. As PCRR stated 525 is standard and some go down to 520 setups.

  5. Great, thanks fellas. 520 pitch chain with 15/41 gearing and 106 links it is!

  6. Just done mine, 520 106 link RK Gold chain with 15/41 Renthal gearing. Well pleased with it
