Can anyone confirm the correct length of chain for the 1299? The manual states “106 links” but I’ve seen somewhere that the manual is a misprint and the correct length is 104 links.
Regina supplied the OEM chains for the 1199. Do they provide the same for the 1299? The parts catalogue shows the same chain part number for both vehicles (Chain 103+1, PN 67640831A). However, Regina's website shows the 1199 using a 104 link chain with 15/39 (front/rear) sprockets, but shows the 1299 using a 106 link chain with X/39 (front/rear sprockets). It would appear that someone is mistaken. If you're purchasing a new chain (OEM or aftermarket), the supplier should be able to sort it for you. Inform them if any changes have been made to the sprockets as that must be taken into consideration when selecting the proper replacement chain. For instance, my 1199 is fitted with a 41T rear sprocket and utilizes a 106 link chain.
It was a Regina chain that was fitted, I made the mistake of not counting the links on the bike and went by the manual which states “106 link” but that’s clearly wrong. My new rivet link has arrived so I’ll remove the extra length.
