959 Chain

  1. Dispite meticiclous cleaning and adjustment of my chain it seems to slacken off and require tightening after every 200 miles or so.

Has anyone upgraded to RK or DID chain?

Bikes done 3500 miles - would the front sprocket need changing at the same time? Rear is a renthal and has done about 2000 miles.

  2. First bike i have needed to swop chain out after 9k miles! The chain had totally gone despite meticulous maintenance. It had worn so much it touched the side of the swingarm. I cut it up and found the links corroded which i put down to the seals failing. The sprockets looked ok but i changed them at the same time with a DID chain. Probably didn't need sprockets but i read it's not a good idea not to.

  3. the rear i don't mind as i have renthal and don't expect more than 4000 miles out of it and has already done over 2500 miles anyway but the front is a pain in the arse to change... even to inspect is a fart on

  4. Doesn't look bad. Just starting to show signs of Wear now. Will see what the front looks like. Would be much easier to just replace the chain and no sprockets

  5. I'd always change both sprockets with a new chain. Don't get hung up with DID they are way over priced. Get a dc chain and steel sprockets. Probs set you back £60-80.
I've noticed the ducati chain needs very regular care both cleaning and 're oiling or else surface rust appears.

  6. Yep original chain sucks mine lasted 10 k miles orings started to disappear now have a dc chain. But i think regular 520 for this bikes like hym monster 821 , 939 , panigale 899 and 959 are weak .

  7. Front just starting to show signs of Wear now so worth replacing both sprockets when I do the chain

What a faff to check the sprocket. Side fairing off, QS and clutch slave just to get access to the cover... tool the chance to replace the cheese bolt on the QS to selecter arm which was getting rounded off after just one removal. Some of the bolts and fixings ducati use are a joke
