has anyone on here actually swapped their front sprocket on the 1199 to a 14t? I spoke to my dealer who advise that Ducati mention that this will cause ABS and TC issues, but I found other posts that this is not the case, but looking to see if anyone has ACTUALLY done it My bike has only done 500 miles so im reluctant to change the chain etc and rear sprocket just yet. I'm loving the bike but around town riding (most of mine) is pretty heavy going with the current gearing.
I have but not in UK till end April to pick it up from the garage so cant comment. I suppose each side of the argument holds weight, but cant see it being much of a problem. Im a firm believer in you right hand being the first point of call when it comes to TC and common sense with ABS. Gizzmos help but reading the road and the conditions are the best rider aids you have..... experience comes from getting into certain situations that if you never get into due to electronic aids fail to give you. But bollocks to that, I want more omph
OK so I took the plunge on this, just picked my bike up after having the 14t kit fitted. I found the bike to be a lot easier to ride in traffic and could not sit in 2nd at 30mph without all the hunting which makes the bike much move livable in London! I only rode the bike for a short 20min ride, but didn't personally feel much of a "seat of the pant" improvement in power delivery. Had I have done the upgrade for this reason I may have been a bit disappointed, but I guess more riding will tell for sure. Hope this is helpful for those considering this upgrade.
