Changing mirrors

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by HyperMintard, Aug 10, 2012.

  1. I have decided to change the mirrors on my Hypermotard, I just can't get on with the standard ones.
I have seen hypermotards with Ducati monster mirrors, has anyone changed theirs?
I so, do you need any specific parts (other than the mirrors) to fix them to the bike? Or anyone know of a better alternative? I don't want to fork out £200 for the hypermotard replacement mirrors with indicator lens...

  2. I fitted a pair of Aprilia Tuono mirrors. I bought them on eBay from the Rocket Centre for £29.99 each, 1 left hand & 1 right hand.
They are a very similar shape to the Ducati replacement mirrors, but don't have the indicators in. I left the standard handguards on and just removed the glass part that swings in/out. They could be left on.

You will also need a pair of new threaded lever brackets. These are a standard ducati item used within the actual ducati replacement kit. They are about £5 for the pair. They are tagged as being for the Monster S4. If you ring any dealer they will look up on their database and find the part number and order them in for you.

  3. Thanks Rednev.... I will check it out!

  4. I've looked into doing this recently too, unfortunately it seems Rednev has missed a zero off the price of the replacement Monster threaded brake & clutch reservoir C clamps. They'll do the job a treat though and you can get them in matt black to match the existing :upyeah:

  5. I fitted a pair of mini indicators to my hand guards and a a pair of small mirrors to end of my bars. they work great far better then the crappy ducati mirrors (straight in the bin) IMG_0310.jpg

  6. Think I'm going to attempt to put on the monster 2012 mirrors. Seen them on a Hypermotard at Hyside motorcycles. If I get it right, I will post the pics

  7. You can do it for around £20 if you buy the parts off ebay - my mate Andy has just done it on his!

The first bits you need are the mirror adaptors for the clutch and brake master cylinders. These replace the current clamps with ones that will accept a mirror. You don't need special Brembo ones, so buy cheap off ebay, eg:
10mm Mirror Clamp for Frt Master Cylinder has Parallel Holes | eBay

The second this you need are mirrors. Pretty much a matter of choice in what style you want, but again you can pick up plenty of them cheap on ebay from UK sellers, and even cheaper if you purchase from overseas. Here's the ones he bought:
    10mm Pair Black Mirrors For Kawasaki Z1000 Z750 ER6F ER6N Aprilia Tuono SL750 RS | eBay

There are other mirror designs just as cheap, so pick which ones you like. Just make sure they match the adapters - the ones above are 10mm. eg:
Universal 10mm Aero Motorcycle Handlebar Mirrors Black Pair | eBay
UNIVERSAL MOTORCYCLE MOTORBIKE MIRRORS 10MM PAIR BLACK | eBay
UNIVERSAL MOTORCYCLE MOTORBIKE PAIR OF REAR VIEW MIRROR'S 10mm THREAD - BLACK | eBay
    etc etc etc

No affiliation with any of those sellers, just passing on the info!
