Hi all, just a quick one. My bike is in bits whilst I change the plugs and air filter, also I have ordered a replacement horizontal head spark plug lead, the main one as the current one is arcing when wet. Question is, the lead isn't coming for around 2 weeks but want to get the bike back together as I have the other bits... If I put it all back together will I have to take it all apart again to get to the coil where the lead fits into? Thanks.
This is something I need to do, I have the new lead as mine is arcing too, a couple of wraps of insulation tape has cured it for the last two years hence why I've not replaced it yet.
I replaced mine recently. I managed to thread it though to the coil pack. A fiddly but quite easy job. I didn’t have to remove any of the bodywork
The new ones are superseded to some sort of armoured covering to prevent them breaking as easily. They are a much improved design. I had both bottom leads changed as they are the ones that generally cause issues. Whereabouts are you?
Yeah I was going to buy the other one as well but it seems in perfect condition. I'm in Walsall, West Mids.
I do have a spare coil and the two leads for the front cylinder. I actually bought them to put on my own, but the dealer fitted new ones so they never got used. If you were local it'd have been easier (I am south Yorks) They owe me 29 quid. I could send if that's any good and you dont want to wait ? They are the later type
If you pull a draw wire through when you remove the lead, it makes threading the new one in a bit easier. Is a bit fiddly but very do-able.
Thanks for the offer but I can't be bothered to go down the route of cancelling now, they should only be a few days away.
