Lots of us are aware that changing the screen can be a right faff. Hopefully the following will help fellow noobs like me and stop people from losing the bottom screen bolts. The quickest and easiest way I've found is the following (no need to take front fairing off completely) - 1. Mirrors off. 2. Take off key surround and air duct covers. 3. Unscrew the three screws on each side of the side fairing (no need to take the one furthest back under the tank off). 4. Take top screen bolts off first (T7). 5. Get your fingers (or a flat head screwdriver with a cloth wrapped round it if fingers are too fat!) underneath the front fairing, at its central point, between the fairing and the headlights, and carefully pull outwards until it pops off. 6. The above should loosen the front fairing assembly enough to get some long, thin pliers down between the instrument panel and screen to get to the lower screen bolt rubbers. Grab these with your pliers with all your might, unscrew the bolt and gently bring the rubber up being careful not to drop it. 7. Screen can now be replaced. Notes on getting everything back together - Don't forget to pop the front fairing back in once the bottom screen bolts are in. Do the top screen bolts next as this should make lining everything up to get the mirrors back on slightly easier. It can be a right pain getting the mirrors back on. No, actually, it will be a right pain getting the mirrors back on. I won't explain how it's done as you'll see how they go when taking them off, but make sure you get everything lined up and none of the indicator wires are pinched when you finally get the rubber back on.
Haha, yes! Those bastard mirrors! If anyone else has something to add please do. Took me about 25 minutes to do. Add another 20 minutes (if you're lucky) getting the mirrors back on!
