Afternoon all, I am off for a week on my MTS in April and I was wondering what the best way to charge phones etc on the move was. I was thinking of using an adapter for the 12v outlet under the seat to allow me to use a standard cigarette lighter style phone charger from the car but this seems tricky to get a hold of? Any good suggestions?
This would do the job 50cm Hella Type Plug to Standard Socket Adapter 12V / 24V (sku 8800) :: [ BuyBits ] They also do device specific chargers
Me too. The iphone 5 charges from a standard usb adaptor (not sure about earlier models) that plugs in to the car sized socket from chrisw's recommended adaptor.
At the NEC BikeShow in Birmingham in November last year, i saw this USB socket on a small stand - quite pricy, i think it was £64 (Oh yeah, save 50% yada yada exhibition discount offer...) I've seen it on US eBay, but not really available here in Europe yet - but maybe i'm just searching the wrong way (or wrong places) An example: Anyone seen anything like here in Europe?
How useful is that especially with smartphones that eat batteries up. Powerlink are out of stock but Buybits have lots of options - link below here - 24" Powerlink Weatherproof USB Charging Socket with Hella / DIN / BMW Plug (sku 16427) :: [ BuyBits ]
I bought a waterproof case with mount and power supply for my iPhone so it can be used as a sat nav as well. £38 from E Bay and works brilliantly.
I fitted one of these under front seat, you can run a cable from I phone under rear seat to charge whilst riding or even when parked up, also use it to charge my Bluetooth headset on touring trips away. Like the fact that it switches off before draining bike battery, very clever!
