Cheap Chinese Ebay decat pipe

  1. Yes, I bought and fitted one this summer.

Quality looked fine, its mostly hidden by the sump plate anyway.

Fitting was smooth enough, fit was all spot on.

Only small issue was the outlet pipe was about 1-2mm too small and the standard end can couldn't clamp tight enough down onto it. I resolved this with a vice and putting a slight oval on the outlet, you could probably make small shims if you prefer.

The other thing is the noise, totally glorious but really really loud if you use a standard can, I like it but my neighbours might disagree.

Once Fat Ducs were fitted it ran smoothly enough but a full remap would probably improve power significantly, I just didn't want it running lean and damaging anything.

  2. Mutleys tend to run rich...CJS for the remap...he is a god with the MTS1200.
Someone somewhere said avoid the Chinese decats (need to search the threads).
I love my LeoVince decat and end can, but not the cheapest nor the most expensive (Quad D's).

  3. I'm not sure where you're based mate but might be worth popping down to a proper exhaust guy and getting one made up, you'd be amazed at the quality some can turn out and probably only looking £200 tops I reckon (if you're nice and polite about it)

theres a guy in Hucknall which is north Nottingham/Mansfield type area called JAC (Wayne's the owner), he did me a decat pipe years ago for the monster and it was one of the best people had seen, kept nice and tight to the underside, fitted perfect, sump plug access easy, all in all cost me about £150 but again that was a few years back.

honestly he's awesome at exhaust stuff

  4. would luv to fit a de-cat pipe to get rid of the ugly cat but I like quiet, couldn't do with the extra noise.

  5. i guess its different strokes for different folks.

me personally love twins/V4s to really sing, the louder the better for me.

Ive said it before on here but the RC8 running a full akra evo is a sound to behold, if i can make a multi even sound half that good id be a happy man :)

  6. is fitting a decat pipe an easy job?

  7. JAC highly recommend, he built a custom system to fit my Termi end can on my monster race bike and it was great work

  8. I really don't understand why you just wouldn't buy a well made part from a reputable manufacturer......forget the Chinese eBay rubbish. Let's face it, these are expensive bikes (min$25000in Australia) so why bother trying to save $100 buy putting on inferior accessories that are crap. Just buy good quality that compliments the machine, not insults it.

  9. I do appreceate the quality point, as i have the silencer the only other choice is mivv which is similar, as apparently leo vince have gone bust,,,

  10. Seems you can still go and buy all leo vince, can't seem to find anything that they've gone bust? Where did that come from?

also a decat is a decat, all this talk about putting on inferior products etc is rubbish IMO

if you don't want to buy Chinese then as mentioned above have one made here in the uk for circa half the price of the mivv / leo vince, its a doddle for any exhaust specialist worth their salt, seriously give JAC a shout, he'll knock something up that's perfect fit and grade A

  11. My thoughts are above. Neither had I heard Leo Vince had gone bust......

  12. Well my Chinese Decat pipe has turned up and I have got to say the quality looks very good, just have to see how it fits. I have also just managed to buy a Mivv carbon can on flee bay for not much so if my new pipe sounds ok and the bike runs ok I will be pretty pleased ( Fat Ducs on the way) . I know its an expensive bike and some will argue that we should all fit the best bits but from my point I would rather spend the extra on a decent rear shock and a fork revalve, these will make a far bigger difference to how the thing rides than spending £1k+ on a top of the range exhaust. So far everything, including the bike, has been bought of ebay and all of it has been good.

  13. I will be interested in how the danmoto pipes fit, as the mivv is just plain pipes as well,at more than double the cost,
Ideally i will hold out for the leo vince to match my end can, as i would like the extra silencer, maybe a s/h one will come up
but as they have gone bust , the factory in poland making the pipes is trickling supply to france, moto gb have no stock of mid pipes and multistrada is not populating on their applications any more,,

  14. Wonder if it would be possible to use an in line baffle on the Danmoto pipe, so it can be linked to std rear section ?

  15. Honestly gents I don't know how else to say this.

In the UK we have some very skilled exhaust fabricators and knocking up a decat pipe for a twin is kids stuff for many of them.

Adding a similar in line solution to that of the leo vince shouldn't be too hard

In fact i shall call my chap and see what he says if it's a solution people are keen on

  16. I could t find any in the south, all midlands up when i was looking so ending up taking a recommendation and heading to Nottingham

  17. I for one would be very keen on a decat pipe with a degree of baffling included so that the original end section can be kept.
Wasn't aware that this was an option so will be interesting to hear what your man says
Thank for doing this research for us, I'm sure most of us would be happier going with a recommended "man" rather than diving in cold.

Will be watching this thread with interest.

  18. I have sent a couple of emails to local companies around South Yorks to see if it is something that they could produce, although they mention motorbikes on the website most only appear to do the 14" tailpipes for Johnny boy racers corsa.
