Anyone have a cheapish spare good set of front brake pads to suit 749R type front calipers. I think the 999 uses the same pads ? Preferably Brembo.
Ian, I use the Performance Friction pads in mine. Not sure what the cost is, but I get them from Nog. Again, can't remember the compound, but it stops extremely well and doesn't need to warm up (unless it's literally freezing). Good for road and track, but it's certainly more track-oriented than road.
They are the 95 compound Jerry, there is now the Dual Carbon compound available from SBS too....but they ARENT cheap, PF being around £54 a caliper and the SBS around £46 per caliper. Brembo Z04's are double that....and for the Panigale BSB bike the Brembo pads cost £350 to load the front calipers !
There's cheap and then there's cheap and crap And Noggy, don't compare proper 2012 BSB calipers with an 8 year old road caliper - it's not a fair comparison and will only scare people! Have to say tho, the billet calipers I had on asbo were eyeballs-out-powerful but as subtle as chiffon handcuffs.
I can get the original Brembo's trade but they are still expensive. Trying to save for a Florida holiday so I do not think it will go down too well if I spend £80+ on some brake pads !! I was hoping someone had a set froma previous bike just lying collecting dust.
Ian, I will have some in a month or so. I have no idea what's in my little RS, but they'll be changed for my preferred pad and will be chucked in the bin, unless you want them.
Hi Jerry, Worth seeing what they are, if they are no good to you and have some wear left then they will do the job. Will sort something with you. Cheers. Did not really want the 'Gold Fren' ones off ebay, not sure what they would be like !!!
