Pools of water underneath - food is still frozen solid.........Insulation failure? Shall I chuck it and get a new one? I know nothing...... AL
Check fuses. Sounds like it's switched off and has just retained the low temperature..... Worth a check before binning it.
Have loaded the freezer up and obstructed the venty fan thing at the back ? It will freeze up and then piss water everywhere !
There isn't one..........just a griddy thing that is all across the back of the freezer (well clear of the wall) and a compressor at the bottom....
Ours went last Christmas. The service man took the trays out, unscrewed the panel at the back (inside the freezer) and everything was frozen in there and was slowly thawing. It was because our freezer door had been left open to long.
This one doesn't have trays or a door, just a lift up lid.......... 11.5 cu ft Whirlpool - de-frosted a month ago.
If there's water underneath but the freezer still works then something must have frozen that wasn't supposed to. So it will defrost again causing the leak.
That's why I think 'insulation failure' in the base..........The instructions say it is OK if condensation forms on the outside of the walls, but nuthin' about underneath....
The fellow who looked at ours said 9 times out of 10 it happens through misuse. ie opening the freezer to often or for to long. Ours was quite a new one so we knew it wasn't just knackered.
