so I email them about the Benelli 1130 which they have. They were very interested in taking the Ducati 749R. So then I email (as then it is documented in black and white) details about said Benelli i.e does it have the upgrades which are required and why does it have a motografix sticker on tank and tail, and receive nothing back. Then I get voicemails asking for an Andrew, my name is Chris, about the Kawasaki ZZR! So I ring them back after several missed calls and they didn't seem bothered I had let them know my name isn't Andrew and some guy is waiting for his ZZR. Wish I never bothered. Is this how dealers really work? really! I have always bought privately.
I asked them for a rough figure for my bike, and that's it. This is the response... Good morning Chris and thank you for your enquiry. We would definitely consider your 749r as a part exchange but would need you to let us know what sort of deal you are hoping for. As you have already identified our Tornado is some 4 years newer than the only other available and with just one owner from new makes it very sought after indeed, as I believe your 749 would be at the right price. Let me know your thoughts and what you are thinking and we'll do our best to make it happen. If you would like to discuss further please let us know the best number to contact you on & Chris will give you a call, alternatively please email us direct. I can't see any numbers in that and I particularly like the part where they say to let them know My thoughts and what I want to happen. what I want to happen is a rough price so I know where I sit in this deal and Stop calling me Andrew.
Andy , they will offer you fook all for it - the 999R on Ebay now that a dealer bought for £8500 off another dealer and re-listed for a couple of grand more would have made circa £6.5 to £7K max to the original poor seller.
He has more medals than me for doing fook all. But he's a charitable chap. Webuyanybike offered £2030 a year ago for it and called me back as they realised it was an R model and then offered me £2600. Mind you, they were the same guys who argued my TLR was a gixxer.
if it's any consolation every one at my place gets called angus until i decide there worthy of there birth name. i was under the impression the "R" models where the sought after versions. tell em to ram it.
I would sell the 749R privately... Its a nice bike and should be easy to sell.. Then go along with the cash and start making offers... Good luck and good job not all Dealers are like that... Leeds Ducati were superb with my 1098s....
Purchased a 999 from Chris this summer. Extremely satisfied with his service. Might be worth considering he's a busy guy with BSB !
No excuse!!!! Sorry but that's utter tosh, he has opened a business. He isn't doing it for something to do!
