Normally we have no2 son here Christmas Eve night and Christmas Day and his partner goes to her parents and comes over to us Christmas Day evening. No1 on and wife usually come for Christmas Day to join us all and also stay the night. Christmas day is normally a traditional one with opening of presents at breakfast time, Buck's Fizz breakfast, traditional lunch, lashings of booze, lay on the sofa and pig out with chocolates whilst watching crap TV. Later in the evening we may have a quiz or do something equally cheesy. Then on Boxing Day they bugger off to respective partners/wives family homes. However this year it's different as grandchildren have arrived on the scene and other things have changed things. No1 son and wife and grandchild have gone to the very north of Scotland with D-I-L's family on a shooting trip. Her family don't celebrate christmas and so Im a tad pissed off that her father arranged something that stops them coming to us where we do celebrate Christmas. Can't say I'm happy seeing as a shooting trip has taken precedence this year. However there's sod all we can do about it. So tomorrow morning we will be going to No2 son and partners house in Leeds for breakfast and will be taking granddaughter's pressies through. Then we are coming home all on our lonesome. But then we are going out for Christmas lunch.........to an Indian restaurant!!! Seems strange at first having booked it but I'm really looking forward to doing something different. After lunch we will come home, open our presents and get slowly lashed watching more crap TV. On Boxing Day we are next door for lunch and evening meal with next door and her elderly parents (who are quite good fun). On the 27th no2 son, partner and child will come to us for the day and will stay the night, which should be nice. And on the 28th no1 son, wife and child will come to us, having got back from spending Xmas in jockland. The 29th sees us going north to spend the afternoon at my nieces new housewarming party. But then we come back to babysit granddaughter for the night. I've got no idea what we are doing on New Year's Eve. So far anyway.
Its nice to do something different though, gives Christmas a whole different meaning! I can see why you are a bit peed off with the DIL father though especially as they don't celebrate Christmas maybe they could have done it after giving everyone the best of both worlds? We were invited to a house party with some good friends NYE however our babysitter who is now as drinking age is off out and quite honestly I don't blame her we have done all that back in the day! Im looking forward to a NYE tipple on the sofa with scrooge and watching the fireworks outside and the countdown of big ben! Our door is open to anyone that would like to come and have a drink or two!
I'm at home Xmas day and new year I don't do much as I have the kids I love Xmas eve but that's about it. My door is open too
Have the outlaws round Christmas Day. Then cause I'm a soft touch I'm taking the boy up to selby on Boxing Day to see his gf.
No routine here getting in the mood now , found a bag of sweet & salty popcorn , its a revelation, opened some red , turned TV off and listning to this just wish i didnt have flu
Give the kids their pressies .. Probably endure my mum being morbid on the phone and demanding ... Get angry , have a cuppa take some nytol go to bed . No I can't ignore her as she will just ring and ring and ring . get worse and more morbid .. New years .... Dunno. most of my friends got married again or engaged co habit ing . theres no way I'd invade their houses I am well chuffed for a lot of them
I'm enjoying sitting here watching my engineer brother being completely defeated by a Polly in my pocket house.....
No. 1 Top Downer this year !!!!!!!!!!!!! Ad 18 day's off & ad to start back on Xmas Eve 12 hr's 7-7 morn , Xmas day 12 hr's 7-7 morn ( home now enjoying a few ales & catching up on what i missed out with 'The Von Trapps ' from the rest of the day !!!!!!!!! Back in tomorrow 7-7 night's & the next day 7-7 night's , then off for 4 day's ...................................... Hope u all ad a good day ..................................................
