There's a Classic bike trackday in between qualifying for the 4 hour classic endurance race on Sunday afternoon trackday and qaulifying saturday and sunday morning. Myself and mate are going, I still haven't got the Supermono / Ultralight project finished so its the old standard SS and mate will be on a MkIV Superlight Details here Endurance Legends 4-Hour Classic Motorcycle Endurance Race My old bus at Pembrey; So anyone else venturing out? The 900SS will be put in the BEARS Class for the trackday
I might, but only to watch..............I need three wheels or a zimmer frame to go round the track these days....... ..........but I admit I was out and about in my one piece track worn leathers on Sunday last.
Yes, Myself and a friend went up on Friday evening for the Saturday and Sunday trackday and to watch the Endurance race on Sunday afternoon. There a lower number of trackday entrants than hoped so on Saturday we had 5 x 40 minute sessions with open pit lane - we were put with middleweights and superbikes. We were on the 200 circuit - staturday was dry after the damp first session, Sunday morning was damp but drying. In between the classic trackday there were practice sessions and qualifying for the endurance race. It was a brilliant weekend. Unfortunately it needed more trackday entrants as the Race on Sunday was free admission so the organisers lost a fair bit, but looking on FB, there has been some great feedback on it. The Practical sports bike Mag team got third in class on an old VFR750 and they are doing a good job of raising the profile. We were the only 900SS Ducatis there. There was a lovely Pantah 600 in our group but we were the only 3 Ducatis doing trackdays. Lots of Slabby GSXRs, older Moriwaki replica Z1000s, a CBX, A couple of Guzzis, CB1100s, FZ600's and 750s. A real fun grid. Some pics - My old 900SS and Ian's MkIV superlight. I'm sure his is the only SL in the country that is used on trackdays? A lovely little TT This TT2 didn't make it to the start grid!
Thanks very much for the report and pics John. I was due to go on the Friday with my 750SS but couldn't get away - I wasn't sure how damp the Fri had been, in the event. It does look like great fun.
Not sure yet. keep an eye on the site below, there was talk of a classic TD in Holland in the Spring. I think the format of Classic TDs run on the same weekend as an endurance race is really good. They did 3 classic trackdays last year so fully expect same next if not more. Endurance Legends 4-Hour Classic Motorcycle Endurance Race
Had intended to go Sunday for the big race but domestic trivia came first, managed to get there Saturday to spectate, nice vibe to the whole meeting and a good variation of machines too, couldn't help feeling for the organisers, low turnout but it was a busy weekend for other bike meetings, big classic meet at Cadwell, BSB finale at Brands and the Stafford show, let's hope they get more attendance next time. @JohnB we said a quick hello in the paddock, didn't stop as you chaps had your hands full with bikes and van etc. glad you had fun. Good to see Trevor Nation giving the rotary some stick! Some pictures, apologies for the quality, borrowed my daughters compact camera. (that's my excuse anyway) Cheers WAH
It was a great weekend. Sunday turnout was pretty good but it was free admission so that didn't get the organisers out of the financial hole, they were depending on TD subscriptions and race entries. Unfortunately, MSV still charged premium rate for the circuit. It was my first time riding at Snetterton, really enjoyed the 200 circuit. I've ridden mt Standard old 900SS at Pembrey as well. The experience has reinforced my desire to get my 'ultralight' project 900 to have quicker steering and a wee bit more grunt
I bought this one to restore, I have another in build as a TD bike with daytime MOT (on the right in the pic below). The build is way behind schedule so I've done 2 track weekends on my standard one this year. my mate Ian has done 6+ on his Superlight in the last 3 years without problem. All I did with mine was put a new Diablo Rosso (170) on the back and a Diablo Rosso Corsa on the front and put Brembo Red SA pads in.
Thanks. It's supermono bodywork and will be very shiny. The 5 spokes were beautifully painted for Rich at LouigiMoto before I bought them from him.. The standard 900 is due a winter refurb. At some poiint before I woned it I'm sure it spent considerable time in a swamp! The engine needs an overahaul, the frame will be powdercoated and It will have new paint. I've got a superlight seat and some half fairings for it. considering doing it in a non standard scheme but fairly Stock (ish)
