I've just seen a picture of a bike which had what appeared to be clear (Perspex?) parts in the plastic cam belt covers, and I do like them. Ideally I'd like the guts to remove all the covers totally (as I have seen done) but fear that would be a tad impractical for a road bike that is used semi regularly on our delightful UK roads. Has anybody seen these anywhere please as a ready to go item, or are they modified standard bits? Thanks all. (It's for a M900 if it matters.)
Ignore me! Just found them on eBay - £200!!! Gulp. Did I mention how I like the slightly faded solid ones I've got fitted??
Sounds like the sort of thing Rizoma would make, in which case expect a big price tag. But you could easily make some from standard covers and some Perspex if you could be bothered...
I've seen a few home made ones using Lexan sheet fixed to the cut OE belt covers, with a bit of care they can look really good.
I've also thought about removing the cam belt covers on my gt1000 but chickened out for the same reason. Here it is very dry and lots of sand (and wind)on the roads in places.Lots of harsh sunlight too and since the bike is parked on a sidestand that side cops a lot more direct sunlight...how would the perspex stand up to that over a couple of years?? if the plastic headlight lenses on some cars here are any guide the answer is not very long, and it's not like they are cheap to buy
These are from a german guy on ebay, modified and machined to fit 900. I have different set on my SS now. pm if interested.
So am I right in my belief that the covers off a 900ss will fit? What about later models ? Mines a. M900, a 93 plate.
Rizoma do them, I have them on my monster. No idea how much they cost though. Moore Speed Racing are a uk supplier.
