1260 Clip Has Come Loose

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by tifosi256, Jul 29, 2019.

  1. Hey All,

I've just noticed that a clip has come loose around the downpipes and wondered if someone could send me a pic of where it should be attached too. I'm assuming this happened at the last service but I didn't notice until now : unamused:. Any help would be much appreciated!

Pic of the offending item is here: https://imgur.com/a/gOX9HeE

  2. Back out one of the bolts near it, loop it under the bolt head and re-tighten. It's just to hold the pipes

  3. You can download a spare parts catalogue from the Ducati web site that will show you the location of that pipe guide. More worryingly, I hope the bolt that does secure it hasn't come undone. Andy

  4. It looks like it lends itself to fitting on the bolt that it's currently sat right next to.

  5. Exactly that. It's been previously undone and not put back correctly. Bolt hasn't come out.

  6. That's actually not the position I found it in. The pipes were inside the hole and I just pulled it out to get a better picture - but yes, it does look like it lines up with that external bolt. I've looked at some photos online and I don't see that clip being visible though, so I assume it isn't where it is meant to go.

I'll check the parts manual in case that sheds light on it.

  7. Maybe it fits inside the fairing. It would be unusual for the clip to sit against the plastic part as it would scratch it.

  8. That was my feeling too. It's actually metal on metal though, but I'm sure it would scratch.

The parts manual also doesn't cover it unfortunately. I don't suppose there's a workshop manual for the 1260 yet?

  9. Is it this one in the picture (5). It's listed as a "cable guide"

Roberano shows it best. It is that bolt, but between the inner belly pan peice and the outer, with a fastner clip

  11. Ahh, I'd ruled out that cable guide since it didn't look like the right shape when I zoomed in. Thanks very much @Robarano

And thanks @JH_1986 for the decent close up pic. It's strange as the engle of that clip, unless mine got bend, doesn't seem like it'd go to that bolt in the diagram.

I'm hoping I can re-fix it by just taking off the right hand side bit of that guard. Hopefully it'll all become clearer when I get home.

  12. That's how I thought it wold be located, from the inside. :) :upyeah:

    Useful pic.

  13. I'd pull it off till you get home, or you may just find it's not there when you look for it. :eyes:
