Ready to get the 848 back on the road so last night I popped the lights back in and the road fairing on the front. Wanted to check the lights were working so switched the ignition on and de-activiated the alarm, fuel pump primed, neutral light and others sprung on, clocks/dash lit up but nothing was displayed on it. It had the normal blue glow but with absolutely no display. I could have dislodged something putting the lights back in, but I was very careful and checked everything and nothing obvious. Any ideas ?
Are the/ have the clocks been exposed to really cold temps? I have known LCD displays to fade/ disappear in cold temps then come back when they warm up. Matt
My display on the 848 did this last season... Linked it to a rad leak that had sprung & was aiming a pin-hole stream of water onto the loom... Runs all the way down to the ECU & relays.... Not saying this is your cause but may well be worth investigation... Pull the ECU out & inspect... Even if its dry give it a quick spray of ACF to keep the moisture out... Mines ok now after leaving it all winter with a very low heat air blower in its tent & dousing the whole loom in ACF..
Thanks for the reply, was it exactly the same, the blue background comes on but no information is displayed ? I've exhausted my search for an issue so have booked it into Moto Rapido on Monday :-( Be good to let them know of your issue so thanks.
It was one of the symptoms yep.. blue illumination but nothing else... happened whilst I was on the road & the lights kept flickering too every now n then (dash lights & actual bike lights).. ive also heard of bad rectifiers causing strange stuff like this too.. another thing for the guys to check I guess....
Had my clocks checked at Moto Rapido and they plugged in another set and they worked straight away. They are replacing them............... under warranty thank god. I'm hoping there is not an underlying issue that could pop the new set though...........
Glad you you got them fixed bud... But did they test the electrical system? More importantly the charging side of things?... Could it have been a dodgy reg rec that fried em & if thats the case you could be back to square one in a few weeks.... Dont want to be the voice of doom though & It may well have been a faulty set of clocks..
