Clocks missted up

  1. Just wondering if any one else has had this trouble?
I was out yesterday in the sunshine and my clocks misted up right in the centre of the big part of the screen.
is there a fix or can u get it fix on the warranty? I've only got 1400 miles on the clock....when I can read it.

  2. Yawn! Again.!?!

  3. Yup, its in the dealers now getting replaced under warranty, along with the heated grips that also gave up.

  4. Same for me yesterday! FFS had the same issue with TFT screen on Diavel. Seems a common Ducati problem as quite a few Diavels suffered from it! my MTS GT has 500 miles on it amd start button stuck in once too! I thought I said good by to problems when i got rid of Diavel!!!

  5. I've just had the starter button/ heated grips changed!!! Think the best thing with a touring bike is only use when it's dry and warm!!!! ,

  6. I'll have to give them a ring then. it will only get worse, I wouldn't mind but I avoid using the hose pipe around my handlebar area just in case something goes in the switches.

  7. Shyte, same happened to me! Bit of mist and heated grips gone.
Onyerbike said they must think the problem is in the clock so they've ordered one for me.
They said they've never had a similar scenario before and here I find out that not only my bike has been faulty.
I bet you guys with the same prob had many wet rides recently!?
... mmm not so good for us and for Ducati, another recall in such a short time, starting to get upset!

  8. Keeping toys in the pram...lets not forget beemers have their issues as do other brands and its still the best all roinder out there ;-)

  9. Agreed, this lot are gunna get rid before us in the know even think about taking the covers off and de plugging the trickle charger. And we told em. Keep it wrapped till warmer weather and you'll be fine we said. Do they listen !!!!!!

  10. Nothing wrong with wet riding...pcp with guaranteed value so their problem ;)

  11. These bikes definitely need a lot of fettling and proofing if your riding throughout the year and you want to keep it looking good, more so then any other of my previous bikes. Cant be an Italian thing as my 8 year old Aprilia needed nothing more then a hose down and a new chain and sprockets in the time that I had it.

  12. I wonder who makes the clocks for Ducati and I would presume that they have to provide replacement clocks free of charge should they go wrong within 2 years plus service costs to the dealers. So although Ducati are ' IN THE CLEAR' cost wise as it were, they must appreciate how much they are cheesing off the customers with this particular problem that doesn't seem to want to go away despite the bike being in its 5th year of production. Personally, the thought of it going in for work done is fine, I get to spend a couple of hours perving around the showroom and chatting to the sales guys about my next bike and they know your name and you feel great. Then you realise that the clocks can't be set to the actual mileage(I know they can now on the 2013 models) and you realise that you are back in again after a couple of weekend rides coz the 600 miles is up and the bitter taste starts. Then you think about 2 years down the line when it's time to sell and you think about the advert and you immediately know that your pride and joy sounds like a duffer. I know that we've covered this so many times( well reminded Andy. PS, isn't it well past your bed time!!! Then again you are bionic and therefore will probably just plug yourself in to a socket) but there is no doubt this problem should have been well and truly overcome by now. More wine vicar!!!

  13. I'll have another glass, ta  ........bionic - I wish! lol

There doesn't seem to be any logic when dealing with some issues like the dash....why keep replacing with the exact same part, why does it take so long for an actual fix/upgrade that works??

What's this about the 2013 Dash?.........the mileage can be reprogrammed for a replacement Dash??

  14. Cover it with your tax disc and...........tadah! It's gone

  15. Idunno what the big deal is, ride for a bit longer and the condensation evaporates anyway

  16. My clocks misted up on my first run out in many many weeks a few days ago. Always have done (11 plate-22,000 mls). New dash going on next month due to neutral light going on unauthorised leave of absences. Constant moisture in dash MAY have caused electrical issues re lights going on and off (on dash). In soaking wet riding weather lights work!
I think if your dash goes after the 2 year warranty period you can still get a new one. Read the Sale of Goods Act. Part should last beyond the 2 year warranty point if not played with; dealer serviced etc.

  17. I did do a search for condensation, water in clocks and misted up speedo

    Nothing came up?

  18. haha...Dash was the keyword........condensation should have gotten you some leads as well though

Searching won't always be totally successful but I get the feeling there's a lot of posting without even trying, too many 'duplicate' threads........wasn't having a dig at you particularly JC, just saw the opportunity to raise the point again ;-)
