Your Owner’s handbook will tell you in the technical specs at the end of the book. It is likely to say Dot3/Dot4. Andy
Hi my question is regarding the clutch was out Sunday giving it the beans and suddenly started to slip strange hadn't long been serviced 5k on the clock after getting ok did some research and the info I read was the clutch needs bleeding every now and then si did this and now ok again but did notice the fluid is very dark so will replace with race dot4 it has I higher temp rang just wondered if anyone else suffered this? Bike V4S 68 plate
The discolouration is normal over time and has little affect on the performance of the fluid in the short term. Many, myself included, eventually change the OE clutch slave cylinder for an aftermarket alternative like the Oberon which cures the inevitable loss of clutch lift with the OE slave. Andy
Thanks for the info Andy I'll try the race fluid dot 4 first they say any higher isn't recommended for abs brakes the higher temp rating should also improve it, I'll do the upgrade on the slave later also do you find it difficult to get neutral with the engine running as the 1199s was ok V4S not so easy ? Cheers Chris
Any doubts fill with dot 4 and flush through until all of the old fluid Is purged out, then put another 3 reservoirs worth through to flush any residual old fluid. Keep the reservoir rolled up to prevent air ingress.
