hi everyone. after years of scootering I finally bought a M796 and I had it now for a few weeks. I started developing a slight pain in my clutch hand, especially in the lower part of the middle finger. not sure if it's an early sign of a tendinitis or something, but it's not nice, and even there if I don't ride for a day. please note that my average ride is quite short (20/25 mins), but I shift a lot cause I ride in town. can this be expected as I haven't needed to use a clutch for so long? I don't think I am pulling the clutch just with the middle finger, but it might be the the majority of the pressure is applied with that finger. the clutch on the Monster is quite easy too any help appreciated thx Fed
Pisquano, Not having used your left hand to operate a clutch lever for a long time is most certainly the cause of your problem, however, do make sure that the lever is adjusted to the most comfortable position for you.
Does the 796 have the dry clutch? If so, the mod from 6 to 4 springs is a quick and easy fix to a lighter clutch.
Fed Worth trying a different pair of gloves. The 6 to 4 spring mod' sounds like it would be most beneficial for you, not sure if there is an aftermarket slave cylinder available that would further reduce finger pressure required.
the M796 has wet clutch I think can you put a link to what you describe please? apart from the 4 position dial, that I think only makes the lever closer, is there an adjustment to make it the level lighter that doesn't require changing the lever itself?
Yes, it seems the 796 is a wet clutch (info from ducati website), so 6 spring to 4 spring mod not seemingly possible. Other sites, such as Ducati.ms seem to talk of the 796 clutch as featherlight in comparison to most ducati clutches, with the change of slave cylinder barely noticeable. maybe needs bleeding through to bite sooner so less travel therefore less total work input required?
