  1. Hello all

Went out to start my 1098R today after a long while and the clutch lever had absolutely no resistance. The reservoir on the bars was also empty. It’s been sat in an non-airconditioned garage all summer here in Dubai. There’s no obvious sign of a leak on the floor. Would you just top it up and bleed it, drain it and start again, hunt for an actual leak??

  2. this is almost certainly the slave cylinder seal failing, The fluid loss that shows the reservoir on the handlebars as empty is not a great deal, and this loss slowly seeping out through the slave cylinder usually blends very effectively with any oil or chain residue under the sump, enough to disguise a clear, visible leak.

  3. Yes I'd agree.

Quickest solution if that is the case is to get a new one - Oberon if you can.

  4. Thanks guys. I’ll get the sides off it later and see if I can see the leak

  5. Turns out it’s leaking somewhere at the master cylinder. Made a right mess of the carbon fiber clear coat ☹️

  6. Oh dear, not good.
On a positive note…no need to buy an Oberon!

  7. that's a real shame, no obvious leak on the floor but a clear one next to the reservoir. I hope it's only the top lacquer that's affected.

  8. there is a rebuild kit for the clutch pump.
