Clutch Lever 900ss

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by ck_uk, Feb 13, 2013.

  1. Are the clutch and brake levers the same on the 900ss, i.e. can you fit a brake lever as a replacement clutch lever?
Is replacing the clutch lever an easy task or does it require bleeding the hydraulics as part of the process?
    Thanks

  2. Yes to the the first question (at least for the carbed bikes). I have one spare for both. Genuine Brembo levers are eye wateringly expensive (£35-40), but according to my mechanic some of the cheaper levers are not to be trusted.

..and that's the first technical question I've been able to answer on here. Go me!

I would imagine it's an easy task to change the lever..

  4. Brembo brake and clutch levers are identical.............The Cagiva ones also, I think.

Brembo ones will straighten if done carefully and not bent too much...........Cagiva ones will snap.

Both clutch and brake levers can be removed without having to bleed afterwards......there is no leakage etc.

If they are a bit wobbly at the fulcrum point because of wear in the hole, you can sometimes eliminate it a fair degree by turning the fulcrum bolt 180 degrees, and if the wear is between the lever and the mounting lugs, then you can add thin shims washers.

It works, 'cos I have done it.

Fortunately I have spare levers as well........they came in a box of spares I bought for £50....sold one item for £60, so I have still got a box of spares that cost me nuffink.......
