1200 DVT Clutch Lever Issues

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Mobile Chicane, Aug 16, 2017.

  1. Hi All, I like to use the clutch lever with two fingers and my 65 plate 8k miler dvt seems to want the clutch pulled all the way to the bar when selecting first or finding neutral.

The system has fresh fluid (4 months ish ago) abd no leaks that i can see and dosent feel spondgey (sp).

is there a two finger lever set available and is it worth fitting the oberon clutch slave cylinder ?

  2. Was it bled through enough when you changed out the fluid ??

  3. I believe so, I will however check that first.

I do like the idea of a pair of two finger levers as they would suit my riding style does anyone apart from evotec do aftermarket levers for the 1200 multi ?

  4. I think Pazzo and CRG both do. :upyeah:

  5. If your other fingers are getting trapped , you can adjust the lever throw on the stock lever

  6. I've tried adjusting the throw but cant find a happy balance between biting point and trapped fingers

  7. I swear by ASV's these are the long ones but they do short ones.

  8. An Oberon slave will reduce the effort required to operate the lever but at the expense of increased lever movement rather than reduced.
Switching your levers for shorter ones may then give you what you want though.
I have Chinese Pazzo copies on my 999 and thought I was ordering the short ones so was disappointed when long ones turned up. However they are usefully shorter than oem and my disappointment was very short-lived. I think they're perfect.
I now have a really comfortable two finger clutch but by reducing stack height rather than with an Oberon slave. That way I don't get the disadvantage of the increased lever throw.

  9. I fitted the Oberon to my 2015 dvt as it was the first thing to fail after 4 months lol.Save your money on the Oberon, it won’t make it any easier :upyeah: well I can’t notice it.

  10. I fitted an Oberon slave to my 2015 DVT. It is a) easier to pull and b) smoother to pull. I have not noticed any difference in lever travel.

I fitted it as preventative maintenance, having had slaves go on 2 other bikes (Aprilia & KTM). however I'm pleased with the improvement.

  11. A difference in lever travel is inevitable, that's how it works.
The larger bore of the slave piston and cylinder means the pushrod travels less far for a given push of fluid from the master cylinder. The upside is less effort is required to move the fluid against the pressure from the clutch springs.

  12. I would however bleed the master cylinder pump as well as it should not be spongy
