1200 S Clutch Master/slave Replacement

Discussion in 'Monster' started by Papa Noel, Mar 16, 2016.

  1. 2015 Monster 1200S.
Has anyone replaced the clutch master and/or slave cylinder(s) on their machine? If so, did it make the sort of difference you'd hoped for in the "weight" of pull-back? And would you share which manufacture/part No. you used ? ( I've looked at Oberon but although the 1200's aren't listed, most if not all Ducatis seem to use the same part no.)

I also want to ensure I don't run into clutch engagement problems if I do decide to replace the standard set-up, so any advice on this ( or pointers towards "Janet and John" texts explaining this further ) is welcomed.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Had an Oberon slave fitted to my 2013 Multi and works a treat - a very light clutch on lever pull back. No experience (yet) re the Monster.

  3. Clutch on my Monster is light enough but drags enough to give terrible neutral engagement when hot. Apparently in North America this is dealt with as a warranty claim (Service Repair Bulletin SRV-SRB-18-028 attached) but not in jolly old blighty!

So I am fitting an oberon slave cylinder to get more lift - the Ducati standard CLU 0116 if there are problems fitting it i will post here - obviously no effective road testing for a while :(

  4. Many have used Oberon, they are very well made, durable and reliable. I would say don’t be tempted by cheaper inferior alternatives. Also no need to spend any more than Oberon.

  5. We have oberon’s here. My thoughts are: lighter pull and a wider ‘band’ of engagement. My mrs had adjustable levers because the reach was too far on the stock slave but since putting Oberon on she’s gone back to OE levers as she reckons the bite point is closer to the bar.

  6. Had to get some fuel so a 60 mile test of the Oberon to see if it cured the Testratetta "into neutral problem"

As usual with Oberon nice light smooth action and some improvement of the problem. Not a cure but a bit better
