Will be picking up a Barnett plate pack for my SS as soon as I can raise the funds? Have an alloy basket, the alloy plates are MUCH kinder re: wear to the basket slots... lighter plates too. Winwin.
If its only close to the minimun thickness I usually stick a further 1.5 mm steel plate in and get a few more miles out of them. Mind you Im lucky to get 3k miles out of my slipper . With a few track days in there.
+1 Yes, just check the stack height and you may get a bit more life out of it. I run OEM alloy plates and alloy basket on my 748, much nicer than the steel shite on there before!
