Hi all, I needs a bit of help on understanding options, I'm looking for a upgrade to the standard 749s 2003, I know of some options out there but only by marketing brand, what I need to know is which one will be the lightest feel, I do not want to remove clutch spring etc, is there a rule I.e. slave piston diameter = pressure, so I can email these guys and know that I'm buying the lightest possible or as near to that, I will also be running shorty levers so this will decrease some help, Do not have the budget for complete master change etc Will race searches open more options or not? Pls help
With a larger diameter piston you will get a lighter, but also a longer pull. With a huge slave and OEM master cylinder and lever you might have problems getting the clutch fully disengaged. The 29mm Oberon is a very good option. Since you have a 749 the first thing I would test is taking off two opposite springs on the clutch. It's the cheapest option as well Will most likely work just fine, given the fact the same clutch is also used on a 150hp 999R.
I used my bike for committing through the lovely streets of London and fitted an Oberon, would highly recommend one.
I guess it looks like the Oberon then, only asking as sometimes it the brand that's followed even though there are better setups, thanks all Andy
Hi, when you fitted the slave did you change the o-rings on the pushrod? Are these o-rings clutch fluid retainers or is it engine oil seals with how it works sliding through engine cases? Wanna make sure I get all I need to do the job once!
The o-rings are for retaining oil as the rod runs through the middle of the mainshaft. If you are careful as you remove and replace the rod you can usually get away without replacing them, but to be honest you don't even need to disturb the rod if you are just changing the slave cylinder.
Fitted a OBERON slave last summer totally recommend this item a much lighter pull But not super light it's still not a Japanese light
