Comìng Back To Bikes, 1100evo Or S4r?

  1. I've been away for around 7 years due to work and kids and I'm now working on the family to allow me back out again.
In the past I've had Zxr/748/monster 600....with glittery tank/R6 etc etc

Now I know I'm getting a ducati and I'm nearly certain it will be on the monster style....but my budget won't stretch to a good 1200S

So I feel like I'm looking at a 100evo or a S4R but I don't know which way to go.

I will get some gear and go and test ride but any initial views would be great

Help out a man in North Yorks

  2. Hi.

    S4R is a 4V 996 (?) engine and the M1100 is 1078 2V - these are very different motors.
It depends on how you want your ride.
The evo is a more modern bike but with basic suspension. I would go for an M1100S with Ohlins as this is basically the same as an evo but with a dry clutch and improved suspension.

  3. @Jimmies I have just sold a 600 Monster with a glittery tank, reg was r86 ynb, not the same bike is it? Can't be many such tasteless and tacky monsters around.
I have had both 1100 and S4r monsters, they are both wonderful bikes but quite different in character with the 1100 not really wanting to rev high whereas the s4r encourages you . In my opinion the s4r was a little better dynamically, much more comfortable and better looking too but as I said before, both are wonderful bikes that should make you smile.

  4. Welcome Dave

  5. Welcome Jimmie, plus one for what Ricky says above ^^^.

  6. The attached bike is local to me and 'seems' good value compared to the available M1100s and evo's

  10. The S4r is a fantastic engine in a great looking bike, I had the S version for a few years the only complaint was flaky chrome on the cam followers.
    Guess it’s your call!

  12. I'm planning on doing most if not all the maintenance...the flaky rocker problem did worry me but I understand you can get them fixed for around £50 a rocker from a company whose name I can't remember right now

  13. Welcome to the forum I can’t comment on what monster to buy whatever you decide to go for enjoy the Ducati experience
