Does anyone know the differences in height between the DP seat, the comfort seat and the standard 959 seat? I think i read the 959 seat was changed over the 899 and may actually be slightly higher? Some extra height would help me - I think i saw somewhere the comfort seat is 10mm taller?
Comfort and race seat are both 1 inch higher. The race that I have is much flatter compared to the stock seat and more grippy, but hard. I find it fine. Eases leg angle to the pegs.
Thanks for that Are you comparing it to 1199 or 899 etc? I think the 1199 seat worse worse than later models. I think I read somewhere the 959 seat was changed over the 899 but might be making that up. So by flatter you mean it doesn't push you into the tank as much under braking? More leg room would be ideal. I think i will go for this - I like the look of the race one compared to the comfort one too. Have you tried a comfort seat by comparison? Is it very soft or less supportive?
Sorry I'm talking about standard 1299 seat and ducati performance seat. Someone else may be able to correct me but I think the 1199 and 1299 are the same seat. The Ducati Performance Race seat is flatter so you don't slide forward into the tank when braking. Also the neoprene covering offers way more grip so your bum does not move. The padding is hard so your bum does not squish into it, so you stay that inch higher. I have no problem with the padding as other things have started to ache before I notice anything up its my bum. I have not compared directly with the comfort version. I think this is the same profile as the race seat, but padding is softer and the covering not as grippy, so you can slide around more on it, but is still flatter. I went with the race seat as that was all that was on eBay when I was looking, plus I wanted the increased grip as I was fed up with ball crunch on braking.
Cheers I think the 1299 has the same seat as the 959 anyway There are a couple of comfort seats on eBay but think the race one is the one for me. Can get a discount from the dealer anyway so will see what they say This is my seat anyway - pretty sure the race and comfort ones look thicker Also do you notice a bad gap? Saw on a couple of forums saying the race one is not a great fit and leaves a gap at rear of seat - not sure if this was on 1299/959 bodywork though or earlier type
Gap is no different to the standard seat on my 1299. I think the gap may be more noticeable on 1199. The race seat is thicker and I find it plenty grippy. Must be different leathers.
Ordered from m and s today where I bought bike from. they have 10% off at the minute on these seats. I find the bike very comfortable as it is but some extra leg room is always handy so hopefully this will improve that a bit.
