Copper/magnetic Bracelets

  1. I get all sorts of pains in my mitts.
Doc says it's age, motorcycle and work related, already on max.strength Gabapentin so nothing can be done yada yada.
The bloke who maintains my trucks, younger than me,knuckles all swollen and sometimes can barely grip a spanner without pain, buys one of the above.
I notice it and tell him what a load of old bollocks,he says go and f*ck yourself,he's been pain free since he started wearing it.
So I've bought one and I hate to admit it but...
Since putting it on,my hands are virtually pain free.Did 60 odd miles on the KTM yesterday and didn't have to flex my hands once.Normally my right thumb/area is aching like a bastad,(cracked scaphoid),but I didn't even notice it.Even the pains in my knees don't seem to bother me anymore.
I mean, wtf?.There is absolutely no scientific basis for the pain relief, loads of studies have been done and it's been proven that neither wearing copper nor magnets have any affect on the body whatsoever.Even the ads for them state that it is believed there might be an effect, but it's can't be measured.
I must either have a vivid imagination,or theres something in it.
    Anyone else tried them/worn them/wear them/found them effective/ineffective/whatever?
Old wives tales or undiscovered magic?
(I'm not selling or promoting them, nor do I make any claims for their efficacy)

  5. I broke / dislocated my elbow in about 2002 , I even managed to loose some of tbe bone , After reconstroction , bonny bits of ti etc , I had a lot of phisio but never got full movement back . I suffered a lot of joint ache then whilst on holiday I met a person selling bracelets with magnets in them . They are made in japan and are all numbered ,again made of ti , it took about 6 months before the pain went but it went . Now , if I take it off , after a few days my elbow starts aching again . Hence I wear it all the time. Looks similar to this .MPS™ ELAR GREY Titanium & Germanium Magnetic Bracelet

  6. I didn't believe it either. No scientific basis for it to work...
Had a similar experience - mate told me it works, I said "bollox". He said "try it, what you got to lose?"
I've been wearing one for years and I know it works. Don't know how, it just does...

  8. NHS don't believe in a lot of things that work, to be fair...

  9. If it works for you then it works for you. Why should anything else matter? I'm just glad you've found something that gives you relief. :upyeah:

  10. Placebo effect ? But hey ho I'm glad it's working for you.

  11. Psychosomatic...

  12. Weren't copper workers immune to cholera? Copper I'm sure has proven medical benefits and been used for thousands of years

  13. I'm not worried or concerned.
Just interested in whether anyone else on here wore the bracelets, and what their opinions were of them, whether they had tried them or if they felt they got any benefit from them.
Like asking for opinions on tyres: it's all subjective, one mans meat etc.
It works for me,whether it's a genuine effect or all in my head,I'm lucky enough to be getting an apparent benefit.
If others didn't get the same relief it wouldn't make me give mine up

  14. Hospitals experimented using copper, taps ,door handles , door push plates etc were copper plated . The copper prevented virus transfer as the virus couldn't live on it. As a plumber I'm well aware of the effect of copper and have a bundle of off cut pipe work suspended in my cold water storage tank. I also think we are missing out on benefits due to the use of plastic pipe work s/ steel cylinders combo boilers etc.

  18. The effects of silver compounds in reducing bacterial contamination and helping healing of wounds are well established and can be scientifically measured. Copper - well maybe, but not so verified.

  19. Copper is the basis of many antifouling products for boats, soon to be banned in the same way as tin based products I believe.

Copper is also an essential trace element for good health, whether it can be absorbed through the skin in a suitable form I have no idea.
