Copy A Cd To Mp3 Can't Find Track Listings .

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by rhubarb and custard, Dec 5, 2023.

  1. I have a stack of CDs I'd like to put on an MP3 player a bit old school I know I don't want to pay Spotify to listen to albums I already have. I'm struggling to download the cd with the track listings and cover art, no doubt Microsoft has made it harder for that very reason. Also I'm using an old laptop still on windows 7 for that proper old git aroma.
I have done some homework looked on Youtube Google etc without much success.

Any helpful ideas or general 'you tight arse' abuse welcome .

  2. Got an iPhone? Copy your CDs to iTunes. Then use the export to MP3 tool to create. Plenty of YouTube videos out there on how to do it. That is how I created my car USB playlist.

  3. 1. Download and install freac

    https://www.freac.org/downloads-mainmenu-33/362-freac-117
This download option is probably your best choice ....
    freac-1.1.7-windows-x64.exe

    2. In the box called "Select Encoder" , choose "LAME MP3"
    3. Go to the "Options" tab and choose "General Settings"
    4. Go to the box that says "Filename pattern" and copy-and-paste this into it
    <album>/<track> - <title>

Put in a CD and click on the "File" tab and then choose "Add -> CD Contents "
click the button with the "Play" symbol
freac will create a folder with the name of the album , and this folder will
contain all of the tracks , along with all of the MP3 tags correctly applied .
    Nice !

Can't give any tips on album cover art though .... I've never tried .

Note - everyone has a legal right to make "back-up copies" for themselves ,
of any CDs that they own .

  5. Many thanks oldtech I will definitely give it a try.

  6. Keep buying CDs or vinyl, The sound quality is much better and the artist gets paid.
Go and see live bands, keep the music business alive.

  7. If you use a Mac XLD does the same thing. I converted all my CDs to MP3s a couple of years ago.

  9. i have done loads of this and its a ball ache

i used i iTunes to copy on to computer, keeps track list and artwork and the easiest thing to do it drag them on an sd card or usb stick, you have to create individual folders for each album otherwise it will just list hundreds of songs, took a while but i have about 50GB go music on 2 sd cards
