Friend who runs a body shop used one of these on my VW camper Milwaukee M12BPS-421X Compact Polisher/Sander Is there any reason you wouldn't use one on a Ducati ?
Never used a polisher on a bike before. Always thought it might be a bit of a waste as there's very little continuous surface to polish... Wouldn't mind seeing if anyone else uses them... As for the brand, Milwaukee make excellent power tools. I used to use one of their corded polishers for work and never had any bother with it, even after 5 or so years of continuos work.
Its very small and would get into most if not all of the nooks and crannies. I am hopelessly lazy about polishing, but when I saw how good this was I thought I need one asap.
I wouldn't, the paint is rather thin on a ducati. A rotary can easily burn through the paint, before you know about it it's too late. It only has 2 speeds! If for whatever reason your dead set on using a machine polisher on a bike then buy a meguiars g220 It's dual action (rotation and orbit) so damaging the paint is a lot less likely. It has 6 speeds, I'd say speed 1 or 2 would be fine with a soft pad to remove defects. Plus it's cheaper than the Milwaukee although it's not cordless. I've had mine around 5 years and it's been superb!
Yeah, just noticed it uses a 3" head. I bet it would come in handy... I know where you're coming from. I have never polished a bike properly and with all this clay bar stuff... Wouldn't mind having a go though... Ian
I use a 3" pad on mine for bumpers, under wing mirrors etc. perfect for anywhere that's not flat or tight on space, extensions are also available to give you more room.
That's a before and after using the g220 on my bonnet, the whole car was covered in swirls and in the light it looked awful.
Ahh sorry, I used the menzerna sample kit I bought. Never used it before but had heard good things about it, it was around £30 I think for 4 250ml bottles. As it was in a sorry state I used the power finish on a hex logic cutting pad and the final finish on a polishing pad. Topped it off with a coat of collinite wax applied by hand. A little polish goes a very long way with these machines!
