Hi all, I could not find photos online nor in the service manual. But today I checked my brake pads at the rear and during installation I couldn't remember if this was the right way to fix the split pin, chain side. Can someone peep on his DVT? Thx!
like this? true, both ways have the same snugness to them. Just wondered if I had to push the pin deeper, guess not
As a general rule, as split pin should be installed with the closed end upwards, the open end downwards. This is because gravity would tend to keep the pin in place if it is disturbed in some way, instead of gravity tending to pull it down and out. But with a positive sprung split pin as shown here, it is OK as you have it, though if I'd installed it I'd still favour having the open end downwards.
