Couldn't Resist

  1. Good morning everyone great to be part of the forum.

Took a trip down country yesterday and picked up a Multistrada and enjoyed a nice easy ride back to Tyneside. Weather was kind to me so got back dry and warm. Not sure how long that will continue but you never know. Hope to be asking a few questions and contributing as much as possible as I have 45 years of motorcycling experience behind me. I wonder which one of these will become my favourite.

  2. Morning john_gray, looking nice though that floor could be a major slip hazard bringing in rain!

    welcome & enjoy

  3. Lived with it for 20years now.....nothing wet goes inside is the solution.

  5. Welcome and a little odd to see those two together in the same collection, as they're pretty similar in terms of being great touring bikes and still decent in the twisties.

Most swap one for the other, so will be interested to see your long term view side by ide.

  6. Ha ha you have just about summed me up....

  7. From the initial ride the Ducati is much lighter and easier to live with everyday....however the R1250 has the legs for comfort on the longer journeys and the engine is much more relaxed. I am now finding slow speed and through traffic quite challenging on a loaded BMW I needed to find something that I can live with in my later years...hence the Multistrada. Time will tell I suppose as one will always be pulled out the garage before the other.

  8. Can't disagree with that John.

Personally I'd have 'scaled down' more than the Multi with the GS is the stable, but sure you'll decide what works for you. I changed over from a 1250 mainly for the weight and although I do a couple of European trips each year with my GS mates, I've enjoyed them just as much.

  10. The Ducati is lighter!? God knows how much the BMW must weight then, just got a 1260S and the only thing I don't like is the weight, and the weight up high, a real shock after sports bikes

  11. I have the GSA and its quite a lump....I'm not particularly tall or strong but the difference was very noticeable.

  12. Welcome and enjoy
