Not sure if anything to worry about? Took bike out today first time since November. Running fine but now and again when on idle engine light comes on. Turn ignition off and restart and running fine with no engine light. But happened couple of times this morning. Also, battery showing full and OK on battery tester but bike just clicking when you trying to start. Once charger connected to battery terminals engine fires up just fine. Once bike is warm you can start without charger . Battery is Yuasa and only about 4 years old
It’s an obvious start according to your diagnosis, time of year (winter) and lack of actual starting/generating activity. I usually disconnect the positive terminal for a winter lay-up.
Not the same brand but KTM’s suffer the same symptoms with a fubared battery. Mine gave me an immobiliser warning light along with EML display.
I just took out 1956 MGA I have which didn’t turn the wheel all winter. Battery wasn’t disconnected. Battery is 8 years old. No problem there…
Yes, but I did check it with a multimeter to confirm it was the battery that had died during hibernation.
I’ve found car batteries to be more robust than is the case for motorcycles and AFAIK there will be no draw on the battery on your MG. Any chance of a picture of the MG? Had your Ducati an alarm or other such device?
Thanks , will get new battery ordered. Also, looks like one of the rubber grommets which is holding battery cover in place is missing. Anyone knows correct size to order? No conclusive info available
