Crash bungs the most ugliest things around, mind you back in the day on our RD’s and GT Suzuki’s we used to have crash bars, only problem with them was in an accident they would wrap theirselves around your lower leg! Not such a clever idea I fear... x
As long as you don't drill a hole in your fairings to fit them, crack on. I always think they look like somehing likely to catch a pothole or drain cover if you go down, and cause more damage than without them, personally.
The R&G Aero saved my wife's CBR300R fairing a few times. She dropped her bike a lot. Also had them on my Panigale which I dropped-off the side stand while I was reaching-out for my rear Pit-Bull stand. Fortunately, the mirror and the handlebar took the hit. They saved the R&G bung from getting scratched. IMHO, they're only good if you drop the bike and even then. At higher speed, it may either snap right off or flip the bike causing more damage. Being 50/50 and considering the cost and ugliness, I'll never buy them again. Although the R&G are considered the best out there, here's the R&G in action. You decide:
I'm not a fan of crash bungs - they're ugly and I fear they'll cause more damage by potentially flipping the bike (in certain conditions) I'm planning on getting engine protection and maybe engine bars, but undecided at the moment
For a static or low speed manoeuvring drop I think they are worth having. In a higher speed off, as mentioned above, there's a distinct chance of suffering greater damage due to having them. As I feel that for me a/ the former is more likely, and b/ I'd have other concerns in the event of the latter. So I do have a set of Evotech bungs fitted to my 1260.
Not specifically of the bungs, no sorry. Can do some next time I have the bike out though. There are some images on the Evotech page linked to in my previous post. The closest I have that shows them is below.
