Crash Protection Advice

  1. Hi...

Anyone got any experience of the following for an 848 Evo...

I've already got GB Racing covers for the clutch side / alternator & water pump side casings. I'm contemplating also fitting some R&G under fairing crash bobbins, but wonder if these would actually offer any more protection than whats fitted at the moment.

For the record, I don't want to fit through-fairing crash bobbins.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Cheers

  2. I have the, on mine, obviously not tested  but they are neat and reckon would save the frame from rash. I have had the longer ones in the past, race bike, and in a low side it bent the frame lug. These RG ones don't look like they would. I think most of the Challenge guys use them

  4. In my opinion engine case protection are the best bet as the main aim of the mushrooms is to protect the fairings. You will always find two distinct camps with mushrooms. Those who say they saved the day and those who will say they wrote off the frame/flipped the bike etc. I have mushrooms on my Ninja, but only engine case protection for the Ducati as I'm more worried about damaging the trellis frame in an off

  5. Thanks Matt, this is kind of what I thought.

  6. I have the under fairing protectors. Never tested them so I can't tell you how good they are.

But, like you, I didn't want a big hole in my fairing so went for the hidden ones. Obviously if I come off.....there will be a big hole in my fairing :frown:

  7. I have the under fairing bobbins and have tested them. They do work, an as they're under the fairing can't catch on anything. They keep the fairing pushed out so it acts like a big ski, protecting what's underneath. I'd recommend fork bobbins too, as I'd just fitted then a few days before my off and they saved the forks.

  8. Thanks Matt. Sorry to hear you had an off, but what you have said is reassuring.

  9. Cheers. I was fine and so was the bike, only cosmetic damage really. Biggest damage was too my pride. My head as telling me it was too sloppy but I went out anyway and it black ice. I hate to think what the damage would have been had I not fitted crash protection!

  10. Hey, we've all made the wrong call at some point...usually in front of a lot of people to add to the embarrassment! Good to hear you are fine though.

My 848 Corse now has GB Racing case covers, fork bobbins and underbody bobbins. All I need now are some scabby old fairings a bit of sunshine and a track day to look forward too.
