Anyone ridden/owned one? What are they like? Half considering chopping in my Streetfighter 1098 for one so how does it compare to something with a 1098 engine?
It'll have the stomp that's for sure, never ridden one myself but have shared a good few track days with them and they can get the power down. personally it's a bike I'd like to try, I think the negative reports that may be out there are probably due to the bike feeling different from a usual jap4, those are also probably the same people who can't ride twins so I'd take it with a pinch of salt. for me it's a good sized bike but then I'm a 6ft +er.
Mate had one and it got knicked. Said it was stye best bike he'd owned. Loved it. I like em. Sorry. But there you are.
Good bikes but its seems there are good ones and bad ones out there and they come like that from new.
Mate had a 2007 R1 and chopped it in for a cross plane R1 and was extremely disappointed claiming it to be slow in comparison. Personally I would not have one but each to their own.
My mates has one in blue , I had a go and is very good very grunty motor although he has full akro on his sounds nice and handles well he had the previous model and much prefers the cross plane crank , nearly bought one myself but Carole Nash quoted me wrong using different post code so quote was way too high and this only came to light whilst I changed my mind and bought multi I might still buy one yet as it was good
Never had a Yamaha but to me they seem to have the most 'soul' that everyone keeps talking about, out of all the jap stuff. I'm hoping the cross plane one is kind of best of both worlds as I don't really like IL4's. They do sound awesome too And before anyone suggests it, I can't afford an RSV4!
I had one before the 848 EC SE. Great bike. Fantastic engine, with a fantastic noise. You needed to man handle it to make it go where you wanted it to go a bit and it was thirsty as fuck. And it was quick. Very quick.
Thanks El Toro, looks awesome in Black. What was it like comfort wise? I'm about 5'9. I've seen one for sale nearby at what seems like a really good price and it's a TC model. It's from an Official Yam dealer so I would hope it is good and true! I might go and have a look soon Just realized my insurance runs out in May and not March (Need that extra 1 NCB)
Comfort wise it was comfy as a comfy thing in comfy street in comfy town. I can most definitely recommend the Crossplane crank R1 - in fact when I chopped mine in for the 848 EC SE I did wonder if I'd done the right thing. Did I mention it was quick? Very quick!
i tested one before i brought the 1098, and i would say its fast too, it accelerated like your sat on a missile would be appropriate i think, and yes, its fast, comfortable, three mode switch, keep it in sport just for fun
Well, I'd love one. The only current 4 cylinder i want more is the RSV4. But I'd probably end up with a BMW S1000 if actually went out shopping for a newer daily ride so I know I'm getting old now. My head is making more decisions than it used to.
i had 2010 one great bike plenty of grunt you can ride it like a ducati and use grunt or rev it like inline four did several track days on it never missed a beat probly would still have it but was helped off by a friendly car driver. put a set of akros on and it sounds the dogs.
