Hi All Posted the below on MS wondering if anyone has experienced this? https://www.ducati.ms/threads/23-v4pp-cruise-control-icon-in-red.749609/ Thanks
I experienced it once as I left home one morning. Returned home, cleaned the front sensor even though it had the tiniest spec of dead fly on it. Started bike again and it had cleared.
Hmm, this was at the dealer this morning to check out my complaint about high speed vibration, they had to lift the bikes front on some rig connected to the handle bar... will def take a look, was there a specific wire, or actually what was your process to push it home? Which of course they found nothing, honestly this thing rides like shit on the highway shakes rattles and rolls with vibration- I'm starting to miss my damn XR
I think thats what I was pushing in, it was at the bottom and the only set of wires going into the housing It felt seated? I didn't hear a click, i'll give it another go, before going back to the dealer Efen hell 2 days of ownership and potentially 2 trips back to the dealer... This is not a good start coming from a 10 year hiatus from Ducati.....should of learned with the first 2
What is the ride mode and suspension settings you are using for when "this thing rides like shit"? When I'm bombing down the backroads, I have my '22 PP suspension mode set to "Sport". For highways, I set the ride mode to "Touring". In addition, I reduced the high preload default factory settings down from 24 for one ride + bags, two riders, & two riders + bags, to 12, 18, & 24, repsectively. For one rider, I have the preload set to 6. I also have Urban set to softest F/R, Touring set to soft F/R, Sport set to either medium or hard F/R, depending on road conditions, and Race set to hardest F/R. Also, what are your tire pressures? I have the front & rear set to 36 psi cold. These settings and different modes give me the long-ride/high speed comfort on our aggregate concrete highways here in the PNW, and then I can "button-down" the suspension when I attack the curvy backroads.
I pretty much have identical settings across the board, I'm not sure about the numbers you have for preloads tho, maybe I didn't go deep enough in the menus? I just leave mine on single passenger with luggage Funny thing on the moderate paced back roads it was fine in Touring Really its those long dragged out highway runs where its noticable??? (In Touring)
Negative everything is bone stock, I did angle both levers down a little to suite, but nowhere near that it was tugging the wires hard ?
Check the two switches, one under the clutch lever and one in the side. One should be closed when the other is open and then when the clutch lever is operated it closes the open one and opens the closed one. Is the quick shifter ok? If that’s working then it’s not the clutch switch.
Right - if you haven't gone that deep in the Settings menus, the preload setting will be "24" (highest preload) w/passenger & luggage. That's going to be a harsh ride on the highway with just you on-board. I would go into the "Settings" menu > "Riding Mode" > "Touring" >"Suspension" > "Front" > select "Soft" < "Rear" > select "Soft" < < "Preload" > select each config "single" (default = 8, try 6), "single + luggage" (default = 24, try 12), etc. for the other two configs. Between setting the electonic dampening to "Soft" for front & rear (vs "Medium"), and then dialing down the preload from the default of 8/24/24/24 for (single/single + lugg/single + passenger/single + passenger + lugg), it will definitely improve the riding experience. Before I departed from the default settings, I found the suspension was quite jarring. Applying some common sense to the suspension & preload settings made the highway ride wayyyyy better in Touring mode.
had my V4PP for 18 months and 7k miles and get intermittent cruise problems. of course they could find no problems when it was last in. drops out of cruise for no reason sometimes and occasionally stops working altogether. warning triangle comes up. like most things, turn it off and turn it back on again seems to clear it. pain in the arse so will defo be talking to them again next time its in the dealers
CC is old tech even with radar.... So ok... this is what I have to look forward to... YAY!!!! So far I'm not impressed with the Audi VW fusion
Aero / All Just to clarify, I may have phrased "rides like shit" incorrectly, It's not the handling that I have concerns with, I think the bike has great handling especially in sport out of the box (yes has some harshness, but will use your guide with the settings as a starting point, actually have it printed out to take with me to experiment with) What I have a gripe with is the current ride quality that I'm experiencing- With a not so engaged ride on slab I noticed a vibration unrelated to engine pulses, As a test, I disengaged the motor and let it coast, and sure enough 2 different frequencies happening simultaneously- 1 high being vehicle speed felt at the bars and the other low being engine pulses with a closed throttle under my seat / feet / between the legs. So this kinda tells me- the front is out of balance, tire out of round, or a bent wheel... Also observed at 30-40 mph I let go of the bars, I see a little wiggle, so I tried at higher speeds and the wiggle amped up to a faster but tighter wiggle. I fear this may potentially lead to a tank slapper. Lastly again on slab the bike rides as if it was caught in a tractor trailers wash and was basically shook and tugged the entire run home but there were no semi's near me to induce this condition and on this particular day it was a normal 5-10 mph wind. Maybe this is related with the vibes that I feel ??? To compound my frustration the kids at the dealership were no help- they checked the balance on the front and it zeroed out so of course to them there's nothing wrong- The tech said he didn't feel anything, so I asked how he tested it, "he just rode it and got it up to 65mph, and didn't feel anything- I had specifics on the service order as to what, when, and where the condition materializes, which I doubt any of it was taken into consideration from a 3 min test ride. The service writer who I usually don't deal with was a bit annoyed and gave a reply "so you want to wait for a diagnosis", in a condescending or "yeah ok buddy" way. I told him I spoke to J yesterday and it was ok for me to wait for it. This only aggravated him more. Now this thing with the Cruise control fault, yes completely unrelated, but regardless this will need another visit to the dealer, wondering if this was caused by the dealership when they took the front wheel off, either way they need to fix it, this wasn't there a day before and cruise worked perfectly fine.
What are you running for tire pressures? And how many miles on bike? I'm at 36 psi cold, both front & rear. My bike is rock steady at speed. Heck, on long highway rides, with the cruise on, I'll hold just the left grip while I give my throttle hand a break. Between the tire pressure(s) & stiff suspension settings, you could be inducing some front wheel oscillation. Sometimes when a tire is run at too low a pressure for too long, the front tire can start to cup and/or feather the tread blocks, and that can lead to these vibrations. Unfortunately, this might warrant new tires to cure your problem, an excuse to purchase some Michelin Road 6's, for example. As for the Cruise Control issue, I would agree it's likely related to the front wheel removal/installation by the dealership. Question - is there another Duc dealer in the area? Sounds like the service department isn't living up to its end of the bargain. Fortunately, I've had a great experience with my local Ducati service, whether it be the 600-mile check, the annual service, or the Akra Race exhaust/UpMap installation.
