Hi, As part of my rebuild I'm having my wheels refurbed, and therefore am replacing the wheel bearings, cush rubbers and cush bearing. I have sourced some wheel bearings and cush rubbers, althought the rubbers are a bit expensive lol :/ My question is, Where do I get a new bearing for the cush drive? Cheers
Simply Bearings Ltd ~ Oil Seals SKF FAG TIMKEN KOYO NTN NKE TRULOC Needle Rollers Taper Rollers Rod Ends Oil Filled Bushes Loose Balls O Rings Grease Plain Thrust There are two in the sprocket carrier which is what it's called.....I think they are 6005 2RS C3 SKF but if I were you, pull the old ones out first and check.........or if you can wait until tomorrow, I might be able to see the reference number on my spare carrier. AL
Yep........just checked my spare carrier and the reference is correct (as you say, for the standard OEM 17mm axle). The OP may as well change the grease seals as well, while he is doing the bearings..... AL
Cheers guys. Just to confirm, this is the one I need? SKF 60052RSHC3 Rubber Sealed Deep Groove Ball Bearing 25x47x12mm Simply Bearings Ltd
It says on the website that it is also known as the 6005 RS C3 so for some unknown reason the '2' is lost.........yet the one you link to shows an 'H' (which might be the bearing seal type)..... Can you see the reference on the old ones in the carrier? Failing that, speak to Simply Bearings for clarification......they are very helpful. The ID of the bearing is 25mm because there is a big bush that pushes through them (which has an ID of 17mm)
I've had a better look and I've found the bearings for the wheels aswell. £38.90 for the lot seems pretty reasonable. The SKF ones would be slightly cheaper than the Koyo ones; however, I have always reckoned that SKF were the best bearings.........but I know nuthin' about the Koyo ones in this case.
I assume you will be changing the main carrier grease seals as well? When you do the wheel bearings, don't forget to put the spacer tube back in.......
