1200 Enduro Cush Drive Replaced Early

  1. Had my Cush Drive replaced today under warranty, by the guys at Coventry, who pushed it through the Ducati system for me. Thing to note was that it started to be noticeable (snatchy on/off the gas) at just below 5k miles and has been replaced at 6k miles. In the service schedule, it is an 18k mile check only item. Apparently it is a nightmare job, as the old ones don't want to come out, so took the best part of 3 hours all in.

On leaving, I had a brain fart moment, stalled it and dropped it in the car park - no one saw, but I had to get 2 of the guys to help me pick it up, as its bleedin' heavy! Luckily I'd had the crash bars fitted, so a few minor scratches to bits that don't matter and a new indicator/hand guard now on order.

It's Karma at work, as my mate dropped his GSA on Monday in the car park of the National Coal Museum and I'd quipped "it could've been worse, it could've been me" - doh!

  2. Holy crap...better check mine tonight...36,000 service is two weeks away.

  3. It was really obvious when I was cleaning the chain. Huge slack between the chain/sprocket and the wheel.

  4. How can you tell if it needs repacing?

  5. I first noticed it when switching the cruise control 'off' when on the motorway. The whole drive train gave a lurch/jolt, as if there was no cushioning effect. Then when cleaning the chain with the bike on the centre stand, the rear wheel would move 1/2" without the chain moving, or vice-versa.

  6. Thanks ive noticed that too with my rear wheel whilst on the centre stand. I’m due to have the belts changed (18,000 miles) so I’ll ask them to change the crush drives too. Thanks.
