D8mok's 848

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by d8mok, May 18, 2012.

  1. Finally got to the stage where my 848 is done. (well for the time being).

Rode it a total of 2 times this year so far. The first ride was a disaster, as every mod was wrong and the bike felt rubbish. But after some tinkering to get it set up , i can safely say the 2nd ride was brilliant.

Ive tried not to go too mad with spending, and left off the BST wheels ,and ohlins for front that i wanted. This money was spent swapping my 696 to a 1100 monster instead.

    Spec as follows:

    Tuning

    Termi cans, ecu and filter

    Carbon bits

Genuine ducati carbon keyguard, underseat/undertank panels, air tube covers, v-piece

Carbon trader exhaust heatshield, front mudguard, sprocket cover

    Moto rapido carbon belly pan

    GB moto carbon chain guard

    shifttech carbon belt covers

    Controls

    DP seat

ASV shorty black levers with red adjuster

    Oberon clutch slave cylinder

    Pirelli BSB tyres

    JHP rearsets

    Suspension

Ohlins 1198s rear shock (fitted since pics)

    Brakes

    Monobloc calipers

    HEL individual brake lines

    Probolt caliper bolts

    Protection

    Speedymoto under fairing crash bungs

    Cosmetic

    ducati tank pad

Ducati solo seat cowl and rear pegs removed

Evotech tail tidy and 8 x 6 plate

  4. It's a special one called Lacko'use polish. Good value - goes a long way. Available at most good bike outlets - preserves the value of the bike well - apart from normal depreciation.

I know the weather's been bad ...but twice this year?

    But

I know you coat yours with that stuff that makes aeroplanes disappear off the radar, but for the rest of us who have to polish them that's.....shiny to say the least. :upyeah:

  7. haha, cheers guys.

I use a combination of dodo juice supernatural wax, and dodo juice detailing spray and other fancy bits on everything else.

Its done 3.5k miles now so it does get used. Just only about 100 so far this year.

My monster on the other hand has done 1k miles so far this year. The weather has been rubbish to do anymore.

  8. Thanks Dom.

  9. Looking good, surprised you haven't plumped for a taller screen or a double bubble, I've had one on from day zero as I fucking hated the wind plast in my chest/head when I rode the demonstrator.

  10. Hi mate, no never liked the look of the double bubbles. And to be honest I don't find the wind to bad. I've neck muscles like a bull from riding my monster so anything is better than that. Lol

Your fairly local to me I think if u ever fancy a ride?

  11. That's the same reason as I put a smoked zero gravity standard replacement on mine....as it keeps the profile the same as it was intended.

The wind has never been a problem for me, but that's probably because most of it will be deflected over me with the standard one anyway, being 5'6".

  12. Looks good mate, so what's next then.... you say it's done hey, I said that four years ago...lol

  13. Only things i do fancy is a white numberboard like a 1098R. But that'll happen when i can be bothered to ride t the place that will fit it. Apart from that, its done.

Hopefully will keep this bike forever as it was my first duke, and i think its lovely.

Even if i buy another sportsbike id still like to keep it if i can. Just think a 848 and a 799 too . mmmmmm

Well, never say never to some BST wheels.lol

  14. LOL yeah those wheels......you'd love them mate they go better than they look that's for sure... me too my 848 is a keeper and over the last few weeks it's been showing a good few mates that you only need 120bhp on the road :D when you think it's 50bhp down on them and twice as fast round bends....lol they hate the thing....lol One said "we think it's time you parked up that Ducati" lol I'd love a 749r :)

  15. Yep - agreed. That's why after many years on different bikes, when I was pondering a change to my last 848 there was only one thing I wanted to do - and that was to get another one. :upyeah:
