Sepang MotoGP Test: Dall well from what he says here I simply can't see the logic in staying 'factory' class, what's the point? i honestly don't see one advantage for ducati as a company
I have a feeling they will go open class but also leave one in Factory class, probably Dovi as he is the quickest rider so far.
From what I can make out yes, that's it. You have to ask yourself why would a factory stay with their own ecu and software from here on in? I mean yes fuel conservation is a global priority but is it relevant to our high end pinnacle motorcycle racing? I don't think so, not when we're only talking an extra 4 litres. Then there's the ability to develop the actual motorcycle itself, as a factory team you can't really as you're so restricted, so ultimately they've managed to turn the highest spectacle of two wheel Motorsport in to no more than a fuel conservation excercise. If I want that then I'd buy a fucking hybrid doo dahh and organise a hyper miling race to lands end and back.... Boredom Yes having your own software is good no doubt, but let's be realistic, the two factories left in play who are so precious about it have the worst electronics packages on their road bikes so it's hardly the fans that are benefitting. Hondas blade for example is miles behind the curve and doesn't even feature TC or fuel maps and the Yamaha R1 has (from what I gather) pretty piss poor TC as a package and is considered quite basic. Aprilia on the other hand has the best package in its APRC and BMW only a smidgen behind, neither have needed factory Motogp status to get that and let's face it, that's the real world stuff we as fans want to see on our bikes. The sooner they scrap the factory status the better IMO. Give them all some bloody fuel back, stop fucking around and allow them to test and develop .............and while your at it (mr Dorna) get another tyre supplier involved. It makes sense..... The current set up doesn't. now where my bloody soap box
