My 748 suffered several scratches and chips to the fairings whilst in for servicing/mot. The garage denies responsibility so it's a classic case of my word against theirs. Do I have any legal redress or do I simply have to accept any 'compromise' that may be forthcoming?
Nope it's not that bad. Did you take pictures of the bike recently before it went into the garage? If so you can show them to the garage with the damage items, also you can actually tell if bodywork has been damaged recently by the marks and flecks of plastic. Take it back and talk to he manager, then also contact their HR and HQ for insurance claim and damages form
Main dealer or not ? If main dealer, can go through Ducati UK, I know some have had good will gestures going that route ?
I had it happen to me using a bmw dealership, although they agreed to replace the beemers dash immediately. It's still 6-7years on in perfect condition. Truly wish ducati would use the same quality of their dash as it got scratched within the first week by just washing it. Horrible feeling not trusting a dealership, and prehaps people should be more vigulant towards handing a bike over for service. Get photos taken with a member of staff present like the hire-car scammers at airports charging people for damage already there!
No recent photos to prove the damage is new. The garage requested photos and then said it couldn't possibly have been them. They have offered to 'help' with the repairs while denying responsibility. I'm still waiting to hear exactly how much 'help' is being proposed but it sounds like it will still cost me!
