Happy New Year all. I have carried out the screen fix on my 1299 over xmas for the Aliexpress one. fits great. Question: I have used Sikaflex 291i around the new casing and wondered how long to leave it to set for. i used a fair bit but not loads to seal it. might run a waterproof black tape around it before i refit it as well. you can't see it so might be worth the extra protection.
i did similar, bonded the ali express case front onto the old back, didn't fancy pulling it apart, used a thick bead of superglue, then wrapped it in tape, looks fine they have a vent on the back, which must be important as mine steamed up christmas day if you want you can geta carbon fibre surround £80
291i is the marine sealant I use below the waterline on my boat and it’s never failed, you only need a tiny bead if you want any chance of getting it apart again in the future. Tape will be unnecessary in my opinion.
