DataTool S4 C1

  1. Thinking of having one fitted my question is there do they fit the box?

  2. My experiences of Datatool are all bad, I'd struggle to recommend them to anyone.

  3. My experience of Datatools is all good, I would recommend them to anyone... I would advise avoiding any Meta alarm like the plague !

  4. Funny old world, innit...

  5. Have a Datatool Snitcher fitted instead. It will be the best thing you've ever done.

  6. I'll never have a data tool fitted ever again. Had three under warranty last time!

  7. Had 2 of these and the only issue I had was having it set too sensitive. Took the guys are the dealers a little while to get it just right but had no problems after that.

  8. Two main problems with any alarm - 1. They do not like being fitted with "scothlock" connectors - ensure that ALL the joints are soldered and properly insulated ( not just with a bit of sticky tape ). From my experience the vast majority of alarm / imobiliser problems are down to bad instalation. 2. Do not have the remote "bipper" on your keyring - the are never truly waterproof or vibration-proof, no matter what the manufacturers say ( and if you loose your keys but the alarm remote is still in your pocket it makes it harder for a potential thief to steal your bike ). I have run Datatool alarms for many years with no problems at all. Meta alarms on the other hand... Useless piece of junk !

  9. Anyone know there the box is fitted??

  10. Surely it's under the pillion seat / cowl? All alarms I've had have been in there - sounder etc. all located in a space under the pillion seat.

Just to add my tuppence - my experience is Meta Good, Datatool Bad. But I'll avoid adding more useless info. to this.

  11. I'm sure the box for my Datatool is cable tied to the frame and sits underneath the left ram air intake

  12. Cheers pal

  13. Richie it very much depends from fitter and bike. On monster had one under the seat, on old 749 by the battery box.
On 748/916 mono seat one's mainly seen them under the mono seat.

On 749 I now have in garage it is between tank and airbox and I think it is part of the reason why that bike is a nonstarter.

For me Datatool S4 mainly battery drain issue while S3 fact it kept on going off, even while on the move!

  14. My ducati alarm is fitted under the offside fairing attached to the frame.

  15. Mine is cable tied to a little black panel just under the fairing with what seems to be a magnetic switch thing in there as well. If you take the fairing off it breaks the connection and sends it off. Nice little surprise first time you do it!

  16. Ive got the little red light cut into that plastic panel, so when I was doing some work recently, I had to leave hang it over the tank

  17. Another one with poor experience with a datatool. I ended up having my mate chop it out. It was armed etc and it took him about 2 seconds to neutralize it. Customer service was laughable. At £300 plus you would expect better quality.

  18. Just had my datatool S4 removed due to battery drain issue would kill the battery in 1-2 days

All good now its been removed :)

  19. I've had 2 x Datatools and had no problems with either, but my preference would be for none, pain in the ass disarming etc. Its seems to me both Datatool and Meta are fit for purpose, could it be poor fitting rather than product?
